US-CERT Alerts Users to Holiday Phishing Scams and Malware Campaigns

US-CERT (United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team) reminds users to remain vigilant when browsing online this holiday season. E-cards from unknown senders may contain malicious links. Fake advertisements or shipping notifications may deliver infected attachments. Spoofed e-mail messages and fraudulent posts on social networking sites may request support for phony causes.

We are pleased to announce that Kara Hanson is a new ITSS Academic Technologist. Joanna (Joey) Helder has moved within ITSS from TechCenter/End User Support to Systems Administrator. And Becky Nelson joined our staff as a temporary TechCenter/End User Support replacement for Joey.

Local Email Delivery Retired

On Friday, October 31, 2014, ITSS shutdown local email delivery service. Starting November 1, all email addressed to UMD email accounts that have not migrated into Gmail will be bounced back with the message: "Account permanently disabled."
