New checkout service for Self-Paced Learning

by Judy Kurschner

You asked for it...we're providing it. Through a partnership with the Library, you can now check out video-tape tutorials from the Reserve Desk. You can use the tapes for at-home learning or you can use them at the Self-Paced Learning Area, where both VCR and computer equipment are available for simultaneous use. Information Services is committed to expanding the holdings at the Reserve Desk as you request and use the materials.

Information Services' Self-Paced Learning Area in SBE 45B provides a quiet, private place to learn today's software. A variety of programs and media are available to assist you in this endeavor. We strive to keep up with the rapidly changing operating environments and versions of software.

Tutorials are currently available in the following media: video-tapes, CDs, pre-programmed software simulations, audio-tapes and workbooks. Help is available for learning a variety of applications - offerings are updated throughout the year. A new brochure will be arriving in your mailbox soon with more detailed information.

The Self-Paced Learning Area can be used on a "drop-in" basis anytime the SBE 45 lab is open. (See schedule for SBE 45 on the web by going to /is/labs from the UMD home page and choosing Lab Hours.) During student breaks and summer months, the lab is available from 9-4:30 by appointment. You can also make an appointment at any time for help getting started. We'll meet you at the lab and acquaint you with the equipment and materials.
