ITSS to Implement Charges for Excessive Use of UMD Modem Pool
Beginning in January 2002, ITSS will begin charging users of the UMD modem pool who connect for more than 60 hours per month. Usage under 60 hours will continue to be supported by other user fees.
We propose this in response to complaints about difficulty accessing the modem pool. Usage data demonstrates that approximately 10 percent of our users consume approximately 50 percent of the available time on the modem pool. Previous appeals to heavy users of the service to reduce their usage have not resulted in any significant changes.
For details of the charging plan, see the Modem Pool Access Fees site.
Read the campus Policy on Use of the UMD Modem Pool for information.
