Email. What Is It? What Can I Do About It?
- The ITSS Help Desk has received
a large number of questions about email spam recently, so we thought it would
be a good issue to discuss.
Ready for Use
- UMD computer network service users
can now sign up to use this program to identify unsolicited emails. SpamAssassin
can filter and send emails to specific folders or delete them entirely as
the user prefers.
- eGradebook is a new program being
developed by ITSS. It will combine the most popular features of the two grade
management programs currently at UMD and provide functionality not available
from those applications.
for Microsoft Campus Agreement Participants
- ITSS has started a new web site
dedicated to helping those in the Campus Agreement find answers to common
questions about what can and cannot be done under this arrangement.
11.5 Now Available
- The latest version of this application
is now available on the ITSS office server for any interested user.
- Although we tend to use our email
programs as a word processor for composing messages, there are differences
in how email programs, such as Mulberry, handle things like tabs and line
wrapping. There are also a few things to watch out for when copying and pasting
text between Mulberry a more powerful word processor application such as Microsoft
Computer Corner Used Computer Sale
- This annual event happens on Tuesday,
December 10th 2002 in the Kirby Ballroom. A complete list of the equipment
for sale is available on the Computer Corner's web site.
info.tech.News is currently sent via
email to all users subscribed to the infotech.announce and umd.business.announce
email lists. The goal of this digest is to distribute information that is useful
to the daily routines of our campus community members in conjunction with computer
and telephone technologies.
