UMD Microsoft Campus Agreement for Fiscal Year 2004 Planning Begins
It's time for currently enrolled departments to start planning for the renewal of our Microsoft Campus Agreement, which expires on July 31st. This is also the time for other departments to decide if they want to enroll in this program for the new fiscal year, because once the agreement is in place, no departments can be added until the next annual renewal cycle.
The Microsoft Campus Agreement Program is a software leasing arrangement under which participating departments pay an annual fee to Microsoft based on the number of FTE faculty and staff in their department. The departments are then licensed to run any version of the Microsoft software products included in the agreement on all of their department owned computers for a period of one year.
At the end of the year, any software acquired under MS Campus Agreement must be removed from all computers on which it is installed if the Campus Agreement is not renewed.
The ITSS UMD Campus Agreement web site contains information for departments to review the existing license program in order to decide to enroll or re-enroll in the Campus Agreement initiative which begins on August 1, 2003 and ends on July 31, 2004.
It also contains information to help currently enrolled departments withdraw from Campus Agreement 3.1 if they choose to not re-enroll.
More information about the general program can be found at Microsoft's Campus Agreement Program web site.
Please contact Steve Patterson (email@example.com and ext. 8785) of ITSS if you wish to renew, subscribe, or have comments and questions.
