Library Instruction Rooms
- Bill Sozansky, Library Director
- Linda Deneen, ITSS Director

The Library and ITSS have worked together to develop two rooms in the new Library to support Library instruction, ITSS training, CE conferences and events, and other campus events that require a computer lab. These two rooms, Library 116 and 115, can be scheduled by contacting Cheryl Carlson (ccarlso1, 8102).

These rooms meet, in part, the needs that were previously met by the Center for Professional Development Laboratory in CCtr 46. CCtr 46 is now a full-access student laboratory, and Continuing Education no longer provides this service. Use of these Library Instruction Labs by external users will be restricted to January break, spring break, and summer months.

The Library Instruction Labs are not intended for regular UMD classes, which should be scheduled in the regular ITSS student computer labs. The Library Instruction Labs will, however, be open for full-access student use when not scheduled for some other event.

In order to be able to keep the equipment in these laboratories current and useful for the campus communities, there will be a charge for the use of these labs. Internal UMD customers with a CUFS number will be charged $50 per hour, $150 per half day, and $300 per full day. Cancellation fees of $20 per hour, $50 per half day, and $100 per full day will be assessed to events cancelled within 10 working days of the scheduled event. If special software must be loaded on the machines, the charge is $40 per hour for staff work to do this, and arrangements must be made at least one week in advance.

We hope the campus community will benefit from the use of these Library Instruction Laboratories.
