- The start of the academic year
is a good time to review important policies. See this article for pointers

Technology Changes and Upgrades
- Summer has been a busy time for
ITSS and Facilities Management in the classrooms. Many classroom projectors
have been upgraded, and others are scheduled for getting a first time install
of our standard suite of equipment.

- Web developers and designers are
invited to subscribe to the Webdev Listserv.
Been Happening in the VDIL?
- Lots of developments and improvement
have been implemented in the Visualization and Digital Imaging Lab since last
spring and here is a quick rundown of those things.
2002 ITSS Workshops
- The always popular ITSS workshops
will be available for registration the second week of the term.
- During the summer ITSS network
staff have been busy working on several projects to improve the campus backbone
and our access to the Internet. What follows is a short list of major improvements
made during the summer.
- Central systems staff were busy
this summer upgrading, patching, and replacing the various systems that make
central services (such as email and web) reliable.
Help Desk Expanded Hours
- The hours of operation for the
ITSS Help Desk have been changed to include evening and weekend hours.
in ITSS Computer Labs for Fall 2002
- There have been some changes and
improvements to the computer labs on campus. For a summary of these changes
follow the link above.
- The wireless network on campus
continues to grow as applications for this technology are found. A detailed
map and listing of all wireless connections on campus can be found from the
info.tech.News is currently sent via
email to all users subscribed to the infotech.announce and umd.business.announce
email lists. The goal of this digest is to distribute information that is useful
to the daily routines of our campus community members in conjunction with computer
and telephone technologies.
