Novell Client Software

The Novell client software is the link between your computer and the Novell Office Server. While Windows 98, ME and 2000 include a "Microsoft Client for Netware Networks," computers connecting to the ITSS Novell servers should be running the latest version of the Novell Netware Client. The Novell client offers more advanced features, provides better service and will be required as the office server is upgraded to newer software.

Do I have a Novell client installed?

If you have a Novell client installed on your computer and you are on the UMD network, you should get one of the following Novell login prompts each time you turn your computer on:

Novell Netware Client login
This is the current version of the client. Enter your Novell username and password and press OK to log in.

Microsoft Client for Netware login
If you get a login screen with a gray bar across the top and three fields (Username, Password, and Server), it is an older version of the client and should be updated. Contact the ITSS Help Desk (x8847) to set up an appointment.

Depending on your computer's setup, there are two non-Novell login windows you may also see:

Microsoft Networking login
If you use Samba services, enter your Samba username and password here. Otherwise, you can just press Cancel.

Windows login
This is a non-secure password. You can click Cancel here.
