Novell Services
Printing
Novell access enables users to print from Windows applications (such as WordPerfect and Mulberry) to network printers. To do this, users must install the appropriate printer driver and point to the Novell print queue for the printer.
Setting up Novell printing
For detailed instructions on how to set up a Novell printer, please see:
Checking your print requests
To view, pause or delete the print requests you have sent:
- Select START - Settings - Printers
- Double-click on the printer you are using to open the print queue window. You will see all print requests that are currently in the queue:
You can pause or delete only those requests that you sent.
Eliminating blank pages and error messages
With some printers, users will get a blank page or a page with error codes at the end of each print job. If you are getting these pages, you can eliminate them by making a change to your printer driver as follows:
- Click on START - Printers or START - Settings - Printers.
- RIGHT click on the printer in question, and select "Properties" from the pull-down menu that is displayed.
- Click on the "Device Settings" tab.
- Under the "Font Substitution Table" category, select "Send CTRL-D After Each Job", then select NO from the pull-down menu, as shown in the figure below.

Turning off broadcast messages
On a Novell network, a broadcast message can be sent to a person's computer each time they successfully print, which can be helpful on a large network with busy printers. However, if you find this message annoying, you can turn this feature off.
To turn off broadcast messages:
- Click on START - Printers or START - Settings - Printers.
- RIGHT click on the printer in question, and select "Properties" from the pull-down menu that is displayed.
- Click on the NDPS Notification tab.
- UNcheck "Directed Pop-up Notification" (double-click on the box).
- Select Apply, then OK.
