Residence hall phone and voice mail tips

Can I use my own phone in the room?
Yes, you can plug your phone into one of the University’s phone jacks.
My phone isn't working and neither is my network connection
Try switching the jacks - if neither are working, it's usually a jack mix-up.
I’m hearing a strange dial tone - what does it mean?
A stutter dial tone indicates that you have a voice mail message waiting. To log in to your campus voice mail:
  1. Lift handset, dial 6666 (726-6666 from off-campus)
  2. Enter your mailbox number (last 4 digits of phone number) + #
  3. Enter your security code + #
What is my initial voice mail security code?
All voice mail boxes are set with the same initial security code: 12 + your mailbox number (last 4 digits of your phone number). You will be prompted to change it the first time you login to your voice mail.
I changed my security code but can’t remember what it is - how do I reset it?
Call ITSS Phone Maintenance (x8573).
Can I forward my phone to another number?
Yes. Dial *72, listen for dial tone, then dial the forwarding number. To deactivate call forwarding on your phone, dial *73.
When people call my number, it rings on someone else’s phone. What’s up?
Call forwarding has been set on your phone. To deactivate it, dial *73 from your phone.
