Voice Mail

NOTE: ITSS is in the process of updating the campus voice mail system; the current voice mail system will be replaced August 28.

All faculty and staff have access to voice mail services through their campus phone.

Accessing voice mail

  1. Dial 6666 (on-campus) or 726-6666 (off-campus).
  2. When the system answers, press #.
  3. At the prompt, enter your mailbox number (this matches your 4-digit extension number) and your security code. (The default security code for new voicemail boxes is 8693 but you must change this the first time you access your mailbox.)
  4. At this time, you can:
    • Press 46 to record a new greeting
    • Press 5 to listen to messages
    • Press 99 to exit the voicemail system

The voice mail system will prompt you as needed.

Following is a short list of commonly used voice mail features. For detailed instructions, please refer to the Voice Mail Reference Card.

Voice Mail Features

For a quick log on (from your phone only):

  1. Dial the voice mail system (6666).
  2. Press ## and enter your security code.

To leave a quick message:

  1. Dial the voice mail system (6666) and press * (instead of #) to log on.
  2. Enter the mail box number and record your message.
  3. When finished, press 99 to exit or * to leave another message.

To record your personal greeting:

  1. Dial the voice mail system (6666) and log on.
  2. Press 4 (Enter greeting mode).
  3. Press 6 and record your greeting.
  4. Press # to end the recording.

To skip someone else's greeting:

  1. Press * when the greeting starts.

To pause a message while listening to it:

  1. Press * to pause the message.
  2. Press * again to resume the message.

To back up a message while listening to it:

  1. Press 2 to back up several seconds.

To restart a message while listening to it:

  1. Press 22 to back up to the beginning of the message.

To forward a message:

  1. Press 13.
  2. Enter the 4-digit extension of the other person.

To reply to a message:

  1. Press 17.
  2. Record your reply.
  3. When finished, press ## to send.

To ensure messages you've listend to are erased:

  1. Listen to the entire message or press 3 to flag the message to be erased.
  2. Log off properly (99).
