Wireless access points (unauthorized)

Problem: My IP address is 10.0.x.x (access from an unauthorized wireless access point).

Solution: Your computer is attempting network access via a nearby unauthorized (non-UMD) access point. Temporarily disable your wireless access.

For Windows 2000/XP

  1. Click on START - Settings - Network and Dial Up Connections
  2. RIGHT-click on the Local Area Connection for wireless, select "Disable" from the pop-up menu.

If you bring your computer to an area with authorized UMD wireless access, you can renable wireless access. See: Wireless computing at UMD for details.
