Using the Windows Update Service

Windows Update Service is a service provided by Microsoft that enables you to get the latest updates available for your computer's operating system, software, and hardware. When you run "Windows Update", it scans your computer and provides you with a selection of updates tailored just for you.

This service is available on all Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98 computers.

How to run Windows Update

  1. Open Internet Explorer. On the menu bar, select: Tools - Windows Update

  2. Click on "Express".

  3. Click on "Install updates".

    Install updates

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions (you may need to reboot for the changes to take effect).

    Successful
    Done

  5. Review other updates listed for your operating system or driver updates, and apply as needed.
