Information Technology Systems and Services (ITSS) values the important work our student employees perform, and realizes that we cannot continue to provide our wide variety of services to an ever expanding customer base without relying heavily on quality student employees.
We strive to provide our student employees with valuable work experiences while with ITSS, and view their time here as a learning opportunity during their education, one they can use to gain valuable experience for their futures. Because our student employees are often the first, and sometimes the only contact customers have with our department, we only hire outstanding students to work with us.
Positions in these areas are offered to UMD students according to the UMD Student Employment Rules. To be eligible, students need to be registered for a minimum of 6 credits during fall and spring semesters, and 3 credits during summer session. However, students who were enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits spring semester and are enrolled in the subsequent fall semester are also eligible for summer employment. Summer hiring priority will be given to students who have worked for Information Technology Systems and Services during the previous academic year and are enrolled in summer classes.
Academics are the priority. Although some outstanding students may be exceptions to this rule, generally, employment is limited to 20 hours per week while classes are in session. In addition, only students in good academic standing will be employed.
ITSS generally hires students in these areas each year:
Although the majority of our positions are filled at the beginning of each semester, positions may be posted throughout the year. For current ITSS student employment positions, please see the UMD Student Employment web site.
