Help Desk Support

Job Prerequisites

  • Work hours: Monday-Friday 8 am-10 pm; Sunday 4:30-10 pm
  • Must work at least 10 hours per week

Essential Qualifications

  • Customer service experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Prompt and reliable work habits
  • Courteous
  • Reliable
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Basic to advanced computer knowledge
  • At least two years left at UMD

Selection Criteria/Preferred Qualifications

  • Number of years remaining at UMD
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Computing knowledge and skills beyond basic use


Job Duties

Major Job Functions

  • Answer phone calls and email from students, faculty, and staff who need assistance with technology
  • Document all phone calls and email with help desk report forms
  • Provide first level technology assistance
  • Refer more complex problems to ITSS staff for assistance
