Andy Manteuffel, under the direction of the Campus Web Committee, put together a series of Dreamweaver templates utilizing the current UMD look and feel. These templates allow you to simply change a few words and links, and then add in your own content. Accessibility, usability, and web browser compatibility have all been taken care of up to this point. As you add content, you need to remain aware of these issues. This workshop site uses one of these templates (nav_1col.dwt), and the instructions are based on Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. This workshop will have you creating pages with these templates. I have also done some style sheet customization, but not by changing the main style sheet. Instead, I use the power of the cascade in Cascading Style Sheets to achieve the customization I need. Before going any further, please take a moment to read about the benefits of using the UMD templates. |
