Nothing reveals the truth about a Web page like a real Web browser. We're going to use the current Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers to view our pages, but if you really want to know what the world will see, view your page in all different versions and types of browsers.
Once a document has been saved in Dreamweaver you can view it in a browser by doing the following:
- go to the "File" menu
- choose "Preview in Browser >" and pick the browser you want to use
If your browser is not currently open, Dreamweaver will start it up and load your page into it.
Through the browser you see your Web page as the world will see it (at least the part of the world with the same browser, the same browser window size, the same type of computer, the same monitor size, the same color depth, and the same screen resolution that you have). Switch back to Dreamweaver and make any changes as needed then use the "Preview in Browser >" choice again to see your changes.
Below is how to add other browsers already on your computer to the "Preview in Browser" list.
- go to the "File" menu
- choose "Preview in Browser > Edit Browser List..."
- click on the "+" icon
- find the browser you want to use
- double-click its icon
