Managing Messages from your Inbox

Reading messages: To read a message, double click on the message in your Inbox.

After reading the message, you may want to:

Replying to Messages

Class Exercise: Select a message from your Inbox and open it. Reply to the message by selecting the Reply button on the message header. The Reply button is located in the right bottom corner of the header section.



Select the button 'Create Reply' if you are responding to the email message that you just opened. Or select 'Create New' if you are creating a new message subject.


Forwarding Messages
Class Exercise: Click the Forward button. Enter your email address to forward the message and then send it.

Keeping a Message in your Inbox
You may always keep a message in your Inbox.

Moving Message to a Mailbox
Class Exercise: Select a message from your Inbox(click on it once) and drag it to the mailbox you choose. (Holding down the left mouse button on a PC, drag the email to the mailbox of your choice.)

Deleting a Message
Class Exercise: Select a message from your Inbox(click on it once), then click on the Delete button or you may use the "delete" key on your keyboard.

Speed Read/Delete Messages: Use the three speed buttons shown here. Open your first email message, if you wish to delete it and go the next message click on the Trash Bin. If you wish to keep the message in your Inbox but want to read the next message, select the down arrow. If you wish to read a previous message, select the up arrow and if you wish to copy the current message to a mailbox and then go to the next message, select the mailbox. A pop up menu appears with a list of your current mailboxes.

Creating Draft (New Message)
Select File > New Message and a Draft window will appear. Enter the TO:, CC:, BCC:, and Subject information. If you have more than one email address in the TO, CC, or BCC (Blind carbon copy) line. Enter your message in the body. Click on the Send button. In the right hand bottom corner of the header, you may notice an envelope with wings flashing by your eyes quickly. This indicates the message has been sent.

Class Exercise: Create and send a message to yourself. Subject: Mulberry Fun and send it.

When you are ready, go on to "Attachments."
