Viewing Your Web Page in a Browser

Although PageMill has a preview mode in it, I don't suggest using it as a final evaluation tool. Nothing reveals the truth about a Web page like a real Web browser. We're going to use the 4.0 browsers to view our pages, but if you really want to know what the world will see, view your page in all different versions and types of browsers.

PageMill 3.x automatically sets up to work with the current browsers you have on your computer. Once a document has been saved in PageMill you can view it in a browser by doing the following:

  1. go to the "View" menu
  2. choose "Switch To >" and pick the browser you want to use
If your browser is not currently open, PageMill will start it up and load your page into it.

Through the browser you see your Web page as the world will see it (at least the part of the world with the same browser, the same browser window size, the same type of computer, the same monitor size, the same color depth, and the same screen resolution that you have). Switch back to PageMill and make any changes as needed then use the "Switch To>" choice again to see your changes.

Your Web page is not World Wide just yet. Head on over to "Creating a Site" to set up PageMill for file transfers.
