Detailed instructions for Exercise 10

If you wanted to locate me (Linda Deneen) on campus, and you knew I was in my office, you could visit these locations in order:

Create a file structure where you can store the "files" Bruce Reeves and Linda Deneen. Here are a couple of pictures that show how this might look. The first is a snapshot of my hard drive.

More detailed instructions:

  1. Open My Computer and drive C (PC) or the Hard Drive (Mac)
  2. Create a folder named UMD Campus
    1. Pull down the file menu
    2. Select New
    3. OR discover and use the keyboard shortcut
    4. Click on the name of the file to put it into blue edit mode
    5. Type in the new name, UMD Campus
  3. Open UMD Campus
  4. Create a folder named MWAH
  5. Create another folder named DAdB
  6. Open MWAH
  7. Create a folder named Room 179
  8. Go back up to UMD Campus (close MWAH)
  9. Open DAdB
  10. Create a folder named Room 27
  11. Open the file you saved on your desktop in Exercise 6
  12. Use SaveAs to save it as Linda Deneen into MWAH 179
  13. Use SaveAs to save it as Bruce Reeves into DAdB 27

Notice that you would not normally save the same file under two different names, but this is just an example.
