Sample Text (type this into your word processor)
Here is some sample text with three paragraphs. This is paragraph
1.
Here is paragraph 2, which will be paragraph 3 when we complete
our exercise.
Here is paragraph 3, which will be paragraph 2 when we complete
our exercise.
Cut-and-Paste Approach
- Select paragraph 2.
- Cut, using cut from the edit menu. Where is paragraph 2 now?
- Move your cursor to the end of paragraph 3 and hit enter
to get to a new line.
- Paste, using paste from the edit menu. Where is paragraph
2 now?
Copy-and-Paste Approach
- Select paragraph 2.
- Copy, using copy from the edit menu. Where is paragraph 2
now? How many copies are there?
- Move your cursor to the end of paragraph 3 and hit enter
to get to a new line.
- Paste, using paste from the edit menu. Where is paragraph
2 now?
- Select the original paragraph 2 and hit backspace to delete
it.
This approach requires one extra step. Is there any advantage
to it over the cut-and-paste approach?
