Streaming audio and video over the Internet can be very useful. Many times streaming is not needed as delivering audio and video from a standard http server (Web server or podcast server) will suffice. How do you decide? Do you know the difference?
At UMD, Web (http) delivery of audio and video may be done in any number of formats. The popular ones are:
Streaming (rtsp) delivery of audio and video at UMD is currently only available for QuickTime. Live events may also be streamed from this server in QuickTime format.

If you would like to stream audio and video on your own, you'll need:
- QuickTime Pro ($29.99 electronic download)
- a UMD Web account (if you have your own UMD email address, you have your own Web account)
- the links to the left in "Inside Using the UMD Streaming Server"
