Streaming audio and video over the Internet can be very useful. Many times streaming is not needed as delivering audio and video from a standard http server (Web server or podcast server) will suffice. How do you decide? Do you know the difference?

At UMD, Web delivery of audio and video may be done in any number of formats. The popular ones are:

• QuickTime
• Real
• Windows Media

Streaming delivery of audio and video at UMD is currently only available for QuickTime. Live events may also be streamed from this server in QuickTime format.

To take this workshop, you'll need QuickTime Pro ($29.99 electronic download), and an UMD Web account (if you have your own UMD email address, you have your own Web account).
