Meet Bobby
Bobby is a useful tool designed to locate and identify certain accessibility problems within web pages, so that a web developer can repair those problems. Bobby analyzes web pages and checks for those accessibility problems that can be checked for automatically. It is a good first pass for checking your web pages for accessibility. You can run Bobby over the web. It can identify accessibility issues and it provides hyperlinks to more detailed explanations and sample code.
In this workshop we will take a look at submitting a page for Bobby's evaluation, reading a Bobby report and checking problems.
Outcomes:
- Ability to submit a page for evaluation.
- Ability to read a Bobby report.
- Ability to find explanations of accessibility problems that require manual checking.
- Awareness of some of Bobby's of strengths and limitations.
Prerequisites:
- Experience with "graphical browsers" like Netscape, Firefox, Mozilla, or Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- Completion of the Web Accessibility Overview workshop or the consent of the instructors.
- Familiarity with Dreamweaver or hand coding in Hypertext Markup Language,
if you would like to do an optional homework assignment.
