Creating Categories

Categories are groups of assignments. For example, you might have a category called "Exams" in which you could have several exams such as "Exam 1", "Exam 2", etc.

Categories serve several functions in eGradebook:

• They group assignments into sections which may be used to give a category summary on the student grade report
• They may be used in calculating the overall grade for the course if you have chosen "Category Weights" as the grading basis (in the "Configure" section)
• They may be used to drop high or low scores for a user-defined number of assignments within a category

To create a category, follow the steps detailed in the Help section for Categories.

If your grading scheme does not use categories at all, try creating only one category (which you might call "All Assessments") and use that for all of your assignments.
