The eGradebook program has 8 sections:
Each section is reached by clicking the associated link in the navigation section, which appears at the top of every page in the program. Since this is a web-based program that is displayed from within a browser, the navigation section serves as your menu bar.
The additional link "Index" brings you back to the first page of the program, which contains links to other eGradebooks.
All of the main options of the eGradebook system are selected in the "Configure" page. No initial changes are needed on your part as defaults are built into the system.
The "Configure" page is divided into the following 5 sections:
Categories are the groups of assessments/assignments you have in your class. Examples include:
Before adding an assignment to eGradebook, you need a "Category" for the assignment. Categories are extremely important if you are choosing to calculate grades using the "Category Weighting" option. If you are calculating grades on a "Total Points" basis, the category is used to group items and can be used to give a category breakdown of the grade calculation in the student's report.
Assignments are the specific items that are graded.
Once at least one category has been created (e.g., Exams) you may begin to add assignments (e.g., Exam 1). Each assignment needs affiliation with a category.
Attendance is purely optional in eGradebook.
This section will allow you to track when students are missing from your class by date. If you choose to use the attendance feature, it can give you and the students a short report section on number of sessions missed.
For all assignments you may:
Final grade overrides are done on this page as well.
Depending upon your choices in the Configure section, you may see grades, totals, statistical information on this page.
"Reports" is the main page in eGradebook, and is the first page you will see each time you access a specific eGradebook.
The information on this page is largely the same as appears on the Scores page, but the data is not editable.
From this page, you may look at each student's grade report, one at a time.
Comments to the whole class are posted in the Configure section. Comments to individual students can be entered on the Comments page.
You may make notes to yourself (or communicate with a TA or co-instructor about a student) by using the Instructor Notes field for each student in this section.
This section allows you to add other instructors or TAs to each eGradebook, restricting what each one can do within the specific eGradebook.
Note: the system operators can access any eGradebook at any time but will only do so to aid in trouble-shooting errors.
