UCD:
User Centered Design.
User centered design (UCD) is both a philosophy and a methodology of product design. The simple idea is that no product, web site, or software system matters at all unless there are users to use it. It puts users needs above everything else.
The Philosophy.
- User centered design means designing the site to help the user.
- User centered design means getting feedback from real users early and often throughout design process to solicit feedback and to gain foresight into the future of the design.
- Highly usable web sites do not just happen accidentally. They are the results of iterative redesign and exhaustive evaluation.
The Methodology.
The overall process is simple; get some users and find out how they work with a web site. For one example view this video that shows clips from a sample testing.
