Forms and Form Data Processing
- Instructor: Roger Petry
- Description: In this workshop you will learn how to how to add forms to your web page to collect data from the users of your web site.
- Outcomes:
- Ability to insert a form into a web page.
- Ability to add "form objects" (elements) to the form, such as text fields, select/option lists and menus, check boxes, radio buttons, and action buttons.
- Understanding of the roles of text labels, and the "name", "value", and other properties of form objects.
- Understanding of the role of the "submit" button, and the associated "get", "post", and "action" properties.
- Understanding of how to validate form data, and provide feedback to the person completing the form.
- Understanding of how form data can be further processed, e-mailed, and stored within files or appended to databases within the Web server at UMD.
- Prerequisite: Dreamweaver 101, The Basics (or equivalent), or instructor consent.
- Course Materials to be Provided: Advanced Dreamweaver training manual. Manuals may be purchased during or at the end of the workshop, for $17.00 each, with a CUFS number or personal check.
- Special Circumstances: We invite anyone who has a disability or special circumstances that might require adaptation of materials or special/different equipment to contact Steve Patterson, spatters@d.umn.edu, ahead of time so that arrangements can be made.
