ITSS WebDev Guide
Using the UMD web page templates
Templates allow users to easily create a series of web pages with a similar format. This gives related pages a more polished look and acts as a visual aid for people visiting the site.
The Campus Web Committee and ITSS have designed a set of Dreamweaver templates that allow users to create pages in the "UMD" format. The templates contain the standard UMD header, the lake logo and UMD name, and footer (required text on all U of M web pages).
UMD Template Download
To view the templates, go to UMD Web Site Templates for Official Pages.
To use the templates, download a copy to your hard drive into your Dreamweaver site Templates folder. You can use the templates "as is", or you can modify the template for your department/group/site and use the new template for your pages.
There are several template layouts available for the general UMD pages. You may choose the template(s) that you feel work best for your needs. All of the templates may be viewed and downloaded from the templates page.
Most UMD pages should use this format.
