Bio

1)  Who are you?

I'm Jessi. I grew up in Wisconsin (#sconnienation), but I've lived in Duluth for almost 20 years. I'm married and I have two daughters in elementary school. I love sports (Bulldog hockey 4 lifeeee), I love to read, and I have a Candy Crush problem.

2)  What do you do?

Assistant Director for Student Activities & Leadership Development. I supervise the activities advisors, and I'm the Parent & Family Programs Coordinator. Basically, I get to watch three awesome professionals work with students, and I get to tell parents and families what's going on with their Bulldogs. I also participate in some campus committees, teach UMD Seminar, and generally cause trouble wherever possible.

3)  What's your favorite part of your job?

The intersection between being creative and being logical. And seeing the way that students grow from their first day on campus to their last.

4)  What's the best meal you've ever had?

My original answer to this question like three years ago: The perfect meal would be a Minnesota Mule from Tavern on the Hill; flash-fried fresh mozzarella with marinara from some hole in the wall Italian restaurant whose name I don't remember in St Louis; shrimp & grits from Pierre Masparo's in New Orleans; and for dessert, tea with milk from my housemother in London and an éclair from Valentini's next to Leif Erickson Park.

I feel like that's probably pretty close, but I would also add that it's more about who you're eating with than what you're actually eating. That sounds corny, but it's true.

5)  If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I would love to go back to the UK...and maybe not come back. I also would love to go to Antarctica because snow is my favorite (seriously, not even kidding). I love to travel, so I'd probably go anywhere if someone said, "Wanna come along?"

Except camping. Camping sucks.
