Kirby Leadership Institute

Find your place.

KLI students are encouraged to develop the understanding, commitment and confidence to lead fully informed and actively engaged lives. So how do you do it? Here's how we can help:

  • To earn the UMD Leadership Certificate, students must complete at least 250 hours of community service. Many on-campus volunteer positions can fulfill this requirement. Examples include peer advisors, SIT Rockstars, admissions guides, and teaching assistants.
  • Want to reach beyond campus? KLI has developed a partnership with the Office of Civic Engagement to help you find your place in the greater community. For more information on volunteer and internship opportunities and placement, please contact Alex Johnson, the service learning coordinator for the Office of Civic Engagement. You can view opportunities at http://www.d.umn.edu/outreach/civic/students.html.
