Poster Regulations and Policies
Due to the increasing population and litter problem on the UMD campus, the following revised poster policy is in effect. This affects all posters, flyers, handbills, and other publicity materials posted on the walls. ANY POSTER, NOT APPROVED OR LACKING INFORMATION WILL BE TAKEN DOWN. See the Director of Student Activities for special approval of items that do not fit these criteria.
- All posters must contain the following information:
- Sponsoring Organization (registered student organizations only)
- Time of the event
- Place of the event
- Cost to attend the event
- Who the event is open to
Off-Campus events that express certain educational or service value can be approved by the Director of Student Activities (please allow at least one day for this).
- Posters must not exceet a size of 22 x 14 inches.
- Each poster must be individually stamped and initialed by a Kirby Information Desk Attendant.
- No more than 21 posters for an event will be approved.
Posting
- Posters can only be only posted in one of the 20 approved posting locations. See Approved Posting Areas.
- Posters CAN NOT be put on:
- department bulletin boards
- painted surfaces
- wood surfaces
- wall-papered surfaces
- metal surfaces
- glass surfaces
- approved or University signs
- To place posters in the Residence Halls, see the Area Coordinator in the Housing Office or stop at the Resident Hall Information Office in Lake Superior Hall.
- Masking tape is available from the Kirby Information Desk for hanging up flyers. Other tapes or poster mounts are not permitted.
- Please remove posters after the even has occured. This will help keep advertising activities effective and keep the accumulation of posters to a minimum.
Banners
- All banners bust be ordered and approved at the Kirby Information Desk.
- Banner space must be reserved with the Room Reservationist.
- Back drop banners must fit the width of the back drop (8 feet).
- Banners may be hung in specified areas only. There are 10 designated areas. Please see the Room Reservationist for details.
