emerging leaders workshops

Seminars and workshops on a wide variety of leadership topics including: skills, communication, theory, ethics, and community involvement, are open to all UMD students, staff and faculty. Most emerging leaders events are free. We encourage students who hold leadership positions on campus to take emerging leaders workshops. Offerings vary from semester to semester, and are presented by faculty, staff, graduate students and community leaders. Please see the schedule below for a current listing of seminars, workshops and campus-wide leadership events.

- BE IN CHARGE OF YOUR FUTURE: Plan to attend your party's caucus! For info on the Republican Party caucus (to be held on Tuesday, February 5th at 7pm at Duluth East High School and other locations), go to one of these web sites: http://www.mngop.com. or http://mncr.org/index.php. Newcomer's training will be held for the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party caucus (to be held on Tuesday, February 5th at 7pm at Ordean Middle School and other locations). The training, "Intro to Precint Caucus: 2008" will be held from 6-8pm in the conference room of the AFSCME bldg. at 2nd Ave West and 2nd Street. The Green Party caucus will be held on Tuesday, March 4th at 7pm; The Constitution Party caucus will be held on Saturday, February 2nd; the Independence Party caucus will be held on Tuesday, February 5th at 7pm. - Tues, February 19th, 6pm, Kirby Ballroom: "Feast" with Richard LaFortune, a self-described two - spirit speaker, artist, writer and activist. Richard will share experiences and stories from his native tradition, describe the two-spirit path, and will also take questions. A traditional winter feast will be served following a traditional pipe ceremony. All are welcome.
- Wed, February 20th, Support UMD Day at the MN Legislature! Stacy Jorgenson, Student Legislative Coalition Director. SLC will provide coach buses to bring students down to the capital.The beginning of the day will begin with a rally where U M students from all campuses will join together to hear speakers.A free lunch is then provided. You will then spend a few hours lobbying legislators. Your role as a student is to attend university initiative meetings. SLC will provide preparation materials to all students, and training is provided on the bus ride.
