Description of Awards

Arrowhead Awards

To be awarded by individual organizations to members based upon students' participation in and service to that organization.

Bulldog Awards

To be awarded to students who have served in at least one area where outstanding service has positively affected the University community over the past calendar year.

Featherman Award

The purpose of this award is to publicly recognize and honor the student(s) who has best exhibited, by personal example and actions, accomplishments that encourage greater understanding between diverse groups.

Leadership Awards

To be given to up to two freshman or sophomore students who have completed fewer than four semesters (excluding summer sessions) of college.

Outstanding Academic Advisor

To be awarded to an academic advisor who has gone above and beyond his/her requirements as an academic advisor. This person has displayed a genuine concern for the well-being of the students he/she advises.

Outstanding Community Service Award

To be awarded to an undergraduate student who has completes 100 hours of community service between the current Fall and Spring semester

Outstanding Faculty

To be awarded to a faculty member who has displayed outstanding abilities in the realm of teaching and instruction; calling attention to his/her contributions to the UMD community, the educational advancement of students, and the general pursuit of knowledge by all.

Outstanding Staff

To be given to any full-time employee of the University; administrative, professional, clerical or maintenance, who has displayed a genuine concern for the well-being of students and the university. This individual has gone above and beyond his/her requirements to aid students.

Outstanding Student Organization

This award is to be based on an organization’s past year’s service to the university and the Duluth community. The organization will be critiqued on growth within the organization, accomplishments, and improvements over the past year(s) that have made the organization “outstanding.”

Outstanding Student Organization Advisor

To be given to an advisor of an organization that has gone above and beyond his/her requirements as an advisor and has displayed a genuine commitment to fostering the growth and development of the organization.

Sieur Du Luth Awards

To be awarded to students who expect to graduate within one semester following the award or who have graduated one semester preceding the award. It shall be awarded to those who have provided exemplary service of three years or more to an organization, the University, and community.
