Students join organizations because they are interested in the:
- Goals of the organization
- An interest in the philosophy or mission of the group
- Skills learned in the organization
- A desire to be with people whose abilities are greater than or equal to their own
- The development of leadership, management, organizational, and life skills
- Opportunities available in the organization
- Networking within a profession
- Internships available within a profession
- Resume enhancement
- People in the organization
- The attraction may be a function of attitude, belief, personality, race, sex or economic similarity
- Activities of the organization
- An interest in what the group does, especially socially
- Affiliation with the organization
