Get Your Club Involved! There are many ways to get your student organization involved around campus. Becoming involved in campus-wide events brings your group public exposure to the UMD campus community, making you more well-known, and drawing new student membership to your club. Having your name out there may also make any fundraisers you conduct more successful because students, faculty, and staff will be familiar with who you are and the purpose of your club – making them more likely to spend money in support of the organization. Simply contact us in Student Activities - KSC 115, if you are interested in being involved in any of the below events! You can also email Lacey, our Student Traditions Manager, at solhe048@d.umn.edu, for more information!
Bulldog Bash & the Student Activities Fair : Move-In Weekend-the First Week of School (Tuesday, Sept. 8th, 2009 is the first day of school this year!) If your willing to do some work, your club can get some excellent exposure and recruiting skills starting the very first week of school. From helping students move into the dorms, hosting events, and setting up a table at the student involvement fair to recruit new students and pass out information, your club can really get its name out there. Contact the First Year Experience Office if you are interested in helping over Bulldog Bash. The Student Activities Fair has limited space so watch for sign up info during the summer – and don’t be late! Homecoming: October 15-17, 2009 Homecoming is the annual time of year when the campus comes together and truly celebrates our school pride. There are MANY volunteer opportunities at events for student organizations to help with and other chances for student organizations to hold events & get involved. Interested? Contact us in Kirby Student Center! Out Cold Week: Last week in February 2009 We look to the student organizations to supply this week with fun events geared towards students and/or the whole UMD community. UMD Student Awards : February-April 2009 UMD Student Awards are campus-wide awards that are selected by the students of UMD. Nominations for Outstanding faculty, staff, academic advisor, student organization advisor, student organization of the year, and various categories for student leaders can be submitted by anyone on campus. We are always looking for students to serve on the various selection committees to pick the winners of these awards. An awards banquet honoring all winners and nominees is held annually in April.
