mission statement
UMD’s Knowledge Management Center (KMC) is envisioned as a centrally located service wherein students, faculty, staff, and alumni have access to services and resources for effectively documenting and managing educational and professional records.
These services will be of two general kinds: one will be a service where professional staff offer workshops on how to use the latest tools for documenting and managing educational and professional records such as ePortfolio, Grad Planner, and other emerging software systems the other general service will focus on the development of integrative software for managing UM enterprise system and self-reported educational records. Both services will focus on empowering learners to effectively document and manage learning objects (educational and professional digital information, records, artifacts, and knowledge).
The Knowledge Management Center will participate in UMD assessment efforts through the use of these tools to demonstrate how programs leading to learning and development meet student, program, and institutional goals.
vision
We are committed to continuous change, evaluation, assessment, development, and deployment of technological tools for managing educational and professional records.
Our strategies will be to create partnerships to take these progressive technologies and make them mainstream at UMD.
