F.I.T. Test

What Is FIT?

F.I.T. (Fitness Inventory Test) is an individual program that:
  1. Tests your current level of physical fitness.
  2. Prescribes a realistic program and goals according to your personal needs, to improve that level of fitness.
  3. Provides programs and opportunities that promote fitness gains.
  4. Monitors your progress.
  5. Rewards for successful completion of program.
  6. Develops programs for fitness.

Why Fitness?

One of the goals of the life fitness programs is to enhance the student experience. The sponsors of this program believe that physical fitness is critical component of a healthy holistic person. The benefits of being a physically fit individual are well documented. It is also recognized that fitness is an individual matter. Some programs work for certain people, but not for all people. Each program should be tailored to the individual needs or the person exercising.

Exercise for you depends on your age, sex, size and other factors.

Who Can Participate?

All students, staff faculty and community members, who can successfully complete the physical readiness questionnaire. All ages are encouraged to participate.

Cost Of The FIT Program

Where And When Does One Sign Up?

The registration forms and participant readiness questionnaires are available in both the Rec. Sports office (SpHC 121) 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Mon. - Fi. or the F.I.T. office (SpHC 162), the hours are posted on the office door. You can participate in the program at any time throughout the quarter except during finals week and quarter break.

Procedure For Participating In The F.I.T.

There are three easy steps to follow to get started in this exciting program. Check them off in order of completion and you're all set to be evaluated for fitness.

  1. Pick up a physical readiness questionnaire (PAR-Q). Fill out the questionnaire immediately or take it home with you to be returned upon registration. You need to be able to answer with a "NO" to all the questions of the physical readiness questionnaire before you can participate. If you are unable to answer "NO" to all the questions you will need a doctors approval to participate.
  2. Return the completed physical readiness questionnaire to the Rec. Sports office or F.I.T. office. At this time you will pay your fee, fill out the registration forms and schedule an appointment.
  3. Attend your scheduled appointment (all testing is done in the F.I.T. office) on time dressed in an T-shirt and shorts with comfortable shoes.

F.I.T. Program Includes:

  1. Fitness Testing
  2. Exercise recommendations:

    A program will be designed to help improve specific areas of fitness. The program will take into account the individual's fitness test results, and personal fitness goals and interests.

  3. Continued support and follow up:

    Counseling and special information sessions will be programmed and available for interested participants.
