Physical and recreational activity is a necessary need for all of us in maintaining a FIT lifestyle. It is a critical dimension in the whole spectrum of "wellness" and one that we shouldn't ignore, even when we feel OK! We need to regularly stimulate our cardiovascular system, exercise our muscle groups and maximize our body's flexibility. By doing this, we will feel better, think better and improve our self confidence and self image. And above all , we will develop routine patterns and habits in our lifestyle that will ensure a FIT life for many years. Note also that we need to EAT right. But this is covered elsewhere in the Student Handbook.
You are urged to explore the variety of physical and recreational activities available to you at UMD, and take advantage of those that will move you from where you are now to a more healthy and well life..... and, by the way, you'll have lots of company - 70% of UMD students take part in Rec.
