Borrowing Privileges for UMD Graduate Students

Please bring items for checkout to the Circulation desk, located on the first floor of the library. Your U Card is your borrowing card, but you may use any photo ID to check out materials.

Automatic Renewals

For your convenience, the library will automatically renew your regular book loans until you reach an end renewal date equivalent to six months beyond the original loan period. You must return materials by the end date or be subject to overdue fines. If items become more than 30 days overdue, you will be billed a replacement charge of $100 plus a processing fee of $15. Renewal is prevented when another user requests an item you have checked out. Materials loaned for shorter terms, such as media, Reserve items, and study rooms, do not have the autorenewal feature.

You may check your account and renew materials in the following ways: (1) in person at the Circulation desk, (2) by calling 218-726-6120 during hours when the library is open, and (3) online by using "My Account." You will need to have a UMD internet user name and password to renew materials online. To renew materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan, log into your ILLiad account. The length of time during which an item may be renewed is limited. See a Circulation staff member if you encounter any difficulty renewing materials.
