Renewing Library Materials

Automated Renewals

For your convenience, we will automatically renew loans of one week or longer until borrowed items reach a renewal end date. For UMD students, the end date for a regular book loan occurs six months after checkout.

Items checked out for short-term loans (such as DVDs or CDs) do not have the autorenewal feature. You must renew or return them by the time due.

Manual Renewals

You can renew your checked out items in three different ways:

1. On any Kathryn A. Martin Library web page, click on the yellow My Account link in the upper right corner.

2. Click the "sign in" tab and enter your internet ID and password.

3. Select the "My Account" tab. Your list of active loans will appear. You may "Renew Selected" items or "Renew All."

Course Reserve materials and group study rooms are not renewable.

You must return an item by the final due date, or overdue fines will begin accruing. If a borrowed item becomes 30 days overdue, you will receive a bill for a lost item.

If you have any difficulty renewing materials, please call the Circulation desk at 218-726-6120.

Interlibrary Loan Renewals

To renew items borrowed from libraries other than those in the University of Minnesota system, log in to your Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) account and request "renewal" on the left.
