Renewing Library Materials

New Service: Automated Renewals

For your convenience, the library will automatically renew long-term book loans checked out to you until the loan reaches a final renewal end date. For UMD students, the end date is equivalent to the original loan plus six months. After that, the item must be returned, or overdue fines will begin accruing. If the item becomes 30 days overdue, it will be billed as a lost item.

Items checked out for short-term loans (such as DVDs or CDs) must be renewed or returned by the due date.

You can renew your checked out items in three different ways:

(1) in person at the Circulation desk

(2) by calling 218-726-6120 during hours when the library is open

(3) through online renewal

a. On any Kathryn A. Martin Library web page, click on the yellow My Account link in the upper right corner.

b. Click the "sign in" tab and enter your internet ID and password.

c. Select the "My Account" tab. Your list of active loans will appear. You may "Renew Selected" items or "Renew All."

Course Reserve materials and group study rooms are not renewable.

If you have any difficulty renewing materials, please call the Circulation desk at 218-726-6120.

Interlibrary Loan Renewals

To renew items borrowed from libraries other than those in the University of Minnesota system, go to Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad) and request "renewal" on the left.
