Special Collections

Special Collections include UMD Library materials that require special care or protection due to their age, condition, unusual format, or special subject matter. UMD's Special Collections include books, periodicals, maps, photographs, and some three dimensional objects. Our largest special collections are the Voyageur Collection, which has materials related to our geographic region, and the Ramseyer-Northern Bible Society Museum Collection, which is a collection of Bibles focusing on the languages of the world.

Special Collections are available 8:00-12:30 and 1:00-4:00 Monday-Friday. The Special Collections Librarian, Tom Ambrosi, is in Room L270. You may send him e-mail at tambrosi@d.umn.edu or phone him at 218-726-7861.

Many of the materials in our Special Collections do not circulate, or circulate under special arrangement.
