Access to Computers in the Library

Students, Faculty and Staff

Computer stations are located on each floor of the Library and with few exceptions require authentication. Use your internet ID and password to access them. Windows PCs are located on the second and third floors. Several Macs are located on the third floor. (see maps)

If you are a UMD student, staff or faculty member and have problems logging in, please see the lab attendant in KAML 118 or at the Circulation Desk on first floor (at the far right) for assistance, or call the ITSS help desk at 218-726-8847.

UMD-affiliated laptop users who wish to connect to the UMD wireless network can do so with instructions here.

Community Users:

A limited number of computers are configured and labeled for community users on a first-come, first-served basis. On the first floor of the Library, Windows PCs are available to the public. Please look for the signage: Guest Computer. Visitors will need to set up a guest account in order to use the workstations reserved for community library users.

If you wish to see if we have a particular item in the Library (or electronic access to it), we have exclusive "library catalog only" PCs on the first, third, and fourth floors of the Library.

Visitors with laptops or devices can use the UMD Guest Wireless Service for temporary web-only access.
