Services for Distance Education Students
Services Offered
As a distance learner you are eligible to have library materials shipped to your home. The library pays for outgoing shipping; you are responsible for the cost of return shipping.
You can also get help with research.
Eligibility
To qualify for Distance Education Services you must:
Be a currently enrolled UMD student or UMD faculty.
Live more than fifty miles from UMD.
Using the Service
Check the library catalog to determine whether you are requesting UMD Library materials or material from other libraries.
Provide a street address for shipping (we cannot ship to P.O. Boxes.)
Include your UMD email address and check this account regularly.
Complete our registration form to confirm your eligibility.
You are responsible for shipped library materials from the time you receive them until they are received by the UMD Library upon return.
Request UMD Library Materials
To find call number information search the UMD Library Catalog
You can expect to receive your requested materials within 3-5 business days.
Shipped materials are subject to all Library circulation policies.
Request Materials from Other Libraries
To have Interlibrary Loan materials shipped to you, choose "UMD Distance Learner" under Status when filling out Interlibrary Loan forms.
