Creating Sharable RefWorks Folders
You can use RefWorks, our campus subscription-based bibliographic citation manager, to share a collection of bibliographic citations with your students.
RefWorks allows users to create multiple accounts, and also allows you to create additional passwords for read-only access. This means that you can create an account just for your class and then create a read-only password for your students in that class to access the citations.
To create a new account, just go to RefWorks and sign up for an account as though you were a new user. Logins are not based on University ID's, so you can create as many logins as you want (as long as you keep track of the logins and passwords).
Once you have created your account, you can fill it with bibliographic citations by downloading them, importing them, or filling them out by hand. RefWorks has a good tutorial and an extensive help section that can teach you how to do this, or you can rely on your department liaison librarian for assistance.
Once your collection of citations is ready to go, you can create a read-only password within RefWorks for your class to use. There are instructions for creating a read-only password in the RefWorks help section.
Once you've created a read-only password for your class account, simply share the login and password with the class and point them to RefWorks, and they will be able to log in and access the citations you have selected for them.
