SciFinder Scholar 2007 (Chemical Abstracts)

SciFinder Scholar in the library:

1. You may run SciFinder Scholar on any [Basic Access] PC in the library.
2. Click on the "start" button in the lower left corner of the screen.
3. In the "Start Menu", select "UMD Library". Then select "SciFinder Scholar."

SciFinder Scholar in your office or at home:
SciFinder Scholar is available ONLY to UMD students, faculty and staff.

If you have a dial up connection from home, the CD-ROM installation is faster.

Please contact Kyle Harriss (726-6546) for the installer on CD.

 

Installation

Instructions and install files for SciFinder Scholar are located on a secure server.
Access to these files requires your internet ID (email user name) and password.

Windows users click here.

Mac users click here.
The Mac version of SciFinder Scholar 2007 is compatible with Mac OS X versions 10.3 and 10.4.
It is not compatible with "Leopard" - Mac OS X version 10.5.

The system requirements for SciFinder Scholar 2007 are available at CAS' SciFinder Scholar website.

 

SciFinder Scholar from off Campus

Please note, if you dial in from home to the UMD Modem pool, SciFinder Scholar will work. If you use a cable or DSL connection, or dial in through other Internet Service providers, you must install and use UMD's VPN (Virtual Private Network) in order to access the SciFinder Scholar database from off campus. Additional information about remote access is available from the SciFinder Scholar site
