CNN Student News
A free instructional program for teachers (includes world and regional news)... designed exclusively for students.

Covers current events with a article comprehension quiz, critical thinking challenge and vocabulary with game. Books and movie sections with reviews by kids. Teachers and kids can sign up for a iDogo Id for additional options.

This is a great resource for links to state homepages (symbols, flags, maps, constitutions, representatives, songs, birds, flowers, trees, etc.) Newpapers, televison stations, radio, and current events are linked under the people section. Well organized and easy to use.

The Washington Post has a kids edition which features games, news, contest, puzzles and fun activities.

The Learning Network : Teaching & Learning with the New York Times
Covers the week news with a weekly quiz with answers and more information, questions for writing and discussion, lesson plans and more.

PBS Newhour Extra
News for students in grades 7-12 with links via subject areas, articles, student voices and video as well as lesson plans for teachers.

Science News for Students
Provides news articles from Student Science : A Resource for the Society for Science & the Public covering science news on atoms & forces; earth & sky; humans & health; life; tech & Math.

Student News Daily
Provides information on current events for high school students including archives, resources and quizzes for Daily News Article (answer sent each weekday morning); Tuesday's World Events (answers sent Tueday morning); and Friday's News Quiz (answers sent the following Monday afternoon).

Time for Kids 
TIME For Kids is up-to-date news and articles, which come from TIME's news bureaus, award-winning journalists and photographers around the world. You can see some of the content but some content is for subscription users only.
