Accessing Electronic Reserve Items

Electronic reserve items may be viewed online from any full access lab on campus or library computers. The items can be downloaded, printed or e-mailed for added convenience.  Access to the electronic reserve items are limited to UMD faculty, students and staff.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is needed to view electronic reserve items online.

Follow the steps below to access the electronic reserve items online.

  • Select the LIBRARY CATALOG button from the Library Home Page.
  • Select the Course Reserve link.
  • Find the list of reserve materials for your course by selecting a search option in the "Field to Search" box, then type in the appropriate information in the "Search for" box and click the Submit button.
    • To search by the course number - type the department abbreviation and the course number as listed in the class schedule (no spaces) Sample: GEOG1200
    • To search by the instructor name - type in the instructors last name as listed in the Directory Search.
  • A Call number  of "UM Duluth Library Reserve Online Resource EL Online Resource" in the availability column indicates the item is an electronic reserve item.  Click the "Title" link, then click on the "External" link to view the document.
  • Click the Next page button if not all the items on reserve are displayed.

    Note: Request books, videos, etc. at the Reserve & Media Circulation Desk.
