Courses that are approved for the Liberal Education Program (LEP) have common student learning outcomes (SLOs) within each category.  As such, students can take a variety of courses within a category, but all students receive instruction related to the category criteria that is similar across the courses.  

All LEP courses are included in program assessment.  The assessment practices are consistent with the standards adopted by the UMD campus, which follows a 3-year cycle of data collection, reporting, and improvement.  Faculty who teach an LEP course are expected to follow these standards using the procedures and forms detailed on this site.
