The LSBE Financial Markets Program is designed to attract finance majors or minors possessing a strong desire to work in the Financial Services Industry.
Students in their junior year demonstrating an interest in working in the Financial Services Industry are encouraged to apply. To be eligible for consideration, students must meet or exceed the following academic requirements:
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Achieve a “B” or higher in the following classes:
- FMIS 3601 Corporate Finance
- FMIS 3644 Investment Fundamentals
- FMIS 3619 Financial Statement Analysis
Students who have met the above requirements are invited to interview in front of the LSBE Financial Markets Program Selection Committee. Successful applicants are notified early in the spring semester and are fully integrated into the program by the end of the spring semester. Selected applicants work closely with existing participants to assume their roles and responsibilities in the program.
The LSBE Financial Markets Program is a one-year long, nine (9) credit academic program. Participants must commit for the full term of the program. Topics include:
- FMIS 4616: Security Analysis (3 Fall Semester Credits)
- FMIS 4620: Portfolio Analysis & Management (3 Fall Semester Credits)
- J-Term Practicum (1˝ weeks during January at Wells Fargo in Minneapolis)
- FMIS 4624: Applied Portfolio Management (3 Spring Semester Credits)
Participants are required to attend class weekly, attend the Wells Fargo J-Term Practicum, and participate in many other finance-related events and trips. Class is held in the Wells Fargo Financial Markets Lab in the Labovitz School of Business and Economics. Participants have unlimited access to the lab. |
